Swiss Pairings

Tournament details

Fixed rounds: the usual Swiss format, everyone plays the same round at the same time. Drop-in / camp mode: for when players finish at different speeds, e.g. kids at a camp. Pair whoever's been waiting longest against the best available opponent as soon as a board frees up, no need to wait for a full round to finish.

Add player

Players with a grade are ranked automatically, highest first. Ungraded players join at the bottom in the order you add them — drag any row to reorder. This ranking order is also used as the tie-break for pairing order in later rounds, so get it right before you start.

Avoid pairing

For siblings, players who don't get on, or best mates who'd rather not face off. The pairing engine will try to keep them apart, floating a match up or down by up to a point if that's what it takes — but not more than that, and not if they're both tied for the tournament lead, since letting them dodge each other there would hand a joint top placing to two people who never actually played.
